Christianity teaches that God gave humans free will, which is essential for genuine love and relationship with Him. Unfortunately, this freedom also allows for choices that lead to suffering and evil. God doesn’t cause suffering but allows it in the context of a fallen world, where people’s choices have real consequences. Christianity also teaches that God can bring good out of suffering and uses it to develop virtues like compassion, patience, and strength. Jesus Himself suffered greatly on the cross, which Christians see as God’s ultimate act of empathy with human pain, offering hope that suffering is not meaningless.
